«Golden age of Finnish design» exhibition in Hermitage
Best works of the classic Finnish design and architecture – furniture and sketches created from 1930’s to 1960’s will be represented in Winter Castle. The exhibition «Golden Generation. Modernism in Finnish architecture and design» will be opened in November 2015. It is a new large – scale project developed by joint forces of State Hermitage specialists and creative associations from Finland.
The display of the two countries art will include more than 450 original drawings of architects and designers, including the famous Alvar Aalto, Eero Arnio, Viljo Revell etc, along with a collection of design objects from chairs to architecture models.
Besides that, the exhibition will show Finnish art films made in the same period, which represent scenography design masterpieces.
Note that the project will be attended by Finnish Institute in St. Petersburg, Helsinki Design Museum, Museum of Finnish Architecture Foundation and the Alvar Aalto Museum in Jyväskylä.
